Is dancing something you enjoy doing? Would you like to go to dance classes or just dancing in general and wonder how you can do for a living?
Well it's certainly possible. There are many ways you can become a professional dancer. The routes vary depending on what type of dancer who wants be.
One thing is certain, to attend a College Dance full time for 2 or 3 years will give you the most options. It will give a lot of skills that also be transferable and will help in whatever path in the world of dance you choose to go down.
There are plenty of dance schools around what is best to do your research and decide if you want to stay local or willing to relocate in order to go to the dance school of your choice.
Each university dance is different and have different specialties. If you really want to go this way then sure all the specialized media, but if you are sure you're better off going to college I'm going to give a good comprehensive education to all in the jazz dance, ballet, tap and other styles.
If you are sure the ballet is what you do or contemporary, for example, then yes it would be appropriate to go to a dance school that specializes in this, as not only to obtain the best teachers in that style, but also probably the best training to be more focused.
There are other ways to become a dancer professional way. For example, if belly dancing is a passion for what I know there are not many full-time schools of belly dancing and employers rarely ask a sheet to show their belly dancing skills! You still have to do your training and attend classes to learn the skills at a high level, but not necessarily have to have gone to a dance school.
The hip-hop dance is another area that is popular. Not necessarily have to have gone to dance school to get work as a dancer in hip-hop choreography but there are some very complex and definitely needs regular training. Many hip-hop dancers go to dance college because there are plenty of crossover with hip-hop and other dance styles like jazz.
If you want to be a club dancer, you can get work in clubs for talent natural dance. I think being an artist is as important as anything, but some clubs only hire professionally trained dancers.
Thus that whatever kind of dance you want to do, do research and find out what qualifications you need (if any), and then do whatever it takes and work hard to be the best they can.
